Zerkowitz’s photographs combine brilliantly the vocation of the chronicler, technical skill, and an aesthetic sensibility, orchestrated by an aspect that articulates and harmonises them all: his passion for work well done and for his adopted country. Zerkowitz was a first-class photographic chronicler; Viennese by birth and Barcelonian by adoption, he created a visual record of Catalonia and the Barcelona of his time.
