Detalles del libro

This dictionary links the science of pharmacology with the many other disciplines with which it is involved. Its scope includes pharmacology, basic and clinical; the development and clinical testing of new medicines; and a range of allied topics. It is directed to all who need access to the scientific world of drugs and medicines whether or not they would describe themselves as pharmacologists.

Technical pharmacological terms - both basic and clinical - are dealt with extensively, and include some definitions of the International Union of Pharmacology nomenclature committee; also clinical trials, including aspects of ethics, law and statistics; the official regulation of medicines is treated; and there are quotations from sources such as the World Health Organization and official regulatory bodies.

In addition, there are entries on research misconduct, SI units, product liability, conflict of interest, compassionate drug use, women as subjects of drug research, and many other topics. This breadth of coverage will enhance the appeal and usefulness of the book to readers both inside and outside the community of professional pharmacology.
