Two plays from an urgent and distinctive new Black British writing talent, published in separate editions alongside their premieres at the Soho and Hampstead Theatres in Spring 2003. Dirty Butterfly, a mesmerizing and startling pressure-cooker of a play about voyeurism, power and guilt, premiered at the Soho Theatre, London, in February 2003, directed by 'Outstanding Newcomer' Rufus Norris (Evening Standard Awards 2001).
Debbie Tucker Green began her theatre career in stage management before turning to writing, initially at the Royal Court Theatre. Dirty Butterfly is her first play to be fully staged, Born Bad her second.
