"The Queen of Spades" deals with the addiction to gambling. A young officer called Hermann, a Russian of German extraction, hears a story about lucky cards from one of his friends. An ardent desire awakes in him to obtain information on the combination of cards which is said to make it possible for gamblers to win a fortune. Afters a ruthless struggle, bringing tragedy in its wake, Hermann get posession of the secret. Introduction to a gambling club gives him the opportunity to turn his newly acquired knowledge to advantage. At his first and second visits to the club he wins large amounts of money. However, on the third day he makes a disatrous mistake, which results in his ruin.

Mistress into Maid is a light-hearted story about awakening young love. The heroine is a high-spirited and enterprising girl of seventeen, who uses the art of disguising as a means of reaching the object of her desires. Thanks to her efforts all obstacles are sumounted, and the way is paved for a happy ending.
