Detalles del libro

Emily Bronte's only novel, Wutheriing Heights (1847), foregrounds the Yorkshire Moors to tell a tale of power, pain and passion, far removed from the ocurt life of Victorian England. Through a series of narrators and covering events over two generations, the narrative moves between the conventional and unconventional, calm and conflict, caring and cruelty.

The present edition is addressed primarily to nonative university students and speakers of English. The text is fully annotated and a brief biography of Brontë's life is provided. The novel is also placed within the social and cultural context of the period and an account of critical responses and readings since publication in the 1840's up until the present is traced.
