In Pacheco's academy, leading painters and writers such as Lope de Vega and Diego Velázquez congregated to talk about art and life. This study provides an overviews of the synergies between the canvas and the stage in order to understand better the Seville of the period alongside its place in the world. A study of the theatrical nature of life in Seville at the time paves the way for an analysis of how and why this was reflected on the stage, providing models of expression and social behaviour that would later be exported to Madrid.
