Book Details

María Montessori stated that children should play with what they have in their environment. Almost all of us keep at home beans of different colours: white, red, green, black, purpleàThis fact has inspired this story to deal with diversity using everyday stuff. Five beans, each one of a different colour and each one with  a different mother tongue,  go on a excursion to the forest as part of their Spanish lesson. They will discover that some fruit is green and some is ripe and, something very important, they cannot take to their mouth anything they find on the ground. Some mushrooms are poisonous others are not. That is why they need a grown-up guide to teach them. To their surprise, they will see that a rose has thorns and a lovely snail has slime that kids find disgusting. Their guide will explain that there is a reason for everything. The slime of the snail can protect them and can also be used for medical purposes. When, suddenly,  the five beans watched the rainbow, they were astonished with its beauty. The guide asked them whether there was a single colour out of place and all of them nodded. All the colours were beautiful and comparing them was  nonsense.
