This essay analyses the factors that determine theaesthetic experience in our time to discover the reasons why a largepart of contemporary art continues to be an unassimilated experienceeven today. The proposal of the text is simple and forceful: art, its?nal product perhaps, not its process, has to do with the identity ofthe sensible and not with reason, but contemporary art sustains itsworth, in the great majority of cases, only in the aestheticdiscourse, in reason. However, the text does not argue that art should be consumable and intuitive, it does not fall into a hedonistic andsimplistic idea, as knowledge is, without a doubt, the great way toenjoy art in a profound way.
