This is the story of an old and lewd governor and his unfortunate attempts to seduce a beautiful and exuberant miller's daughter. The story, which today still entices readers with its liveliness, and which has its origins in traditional folk tales, is one of Pedro Antonio De Alarcón's most famous works. Manuel de Falla's (1876-1946) famous ballet is based on the story.
